On June 6, 2006 a dedication ceremony was held to commemorate the placement of a historical marker at the location of the first log house built in St. Charles.

The idea for the marker came from the 2002-03 Third Grade Class, and those students worked hard to get approval from the State and to get the funds necessary to purchase the marker.
